Layout of Listings
Author Bob on 09-12-2000 at 05:18 (EST)
First off, thanks a million Bill for the tip on making the generated pages .shtml rather than .html. It almost seems to easy, but it sure seems to work like a charm.

My next question is that the sales piece mentioned the ability to have 3 different layouts for the listings in each category. I don't seem to be able to isolate an option to make this selection?

Finally, how can I remove the HUGE, BOLD category text name and allow each category image to basically make the statement for what the category is?

Thanks in advance!

At this time, the extent that the listing layouts can be configured via the "Configure Listings" option on the Control Panel include:

- Specifying size of the listing images and whether to include images on the top, left, right of the listings - or not at all.

- The ability to configure the number and names of the fields in the listings.

- The ability to display each field with labels and/or bullets - or to mark it has hidden.

There is also the ability to confure some of the backgrounds/colors/fonts via the configuration questions at the top of the "" script.... so check there too.

As for removing the big category name from each page.... there is no easy way to hide that ... but you might want to take a look at some of the preferences that are configurable via question #17 at the top of the script. You might be able to find a font face/size that is more to your liking....

Note that if you already have some of the categories/listings created, then be sure to use the "Generate HTML" utility on the control panel after every change you make to the preferences in question #17. That "Generate HTML" utility will force uDirectory to recreate all of the HTML pages with your new preferences applied. A "refresh" on your browser may then be needed to see the changes.
