Upgrading from Shareware to Full Version
Author Brian Levine on 08-19-2000 at 17:16 (EST)
Hi. I just upgraded to the registered version of 2.0. I was wondering if I had to do anything other than copy the new classes to my class directory on my site?

Well, like a jerk, a tried to upgrade by copying the class files over (I was successfully using the trial version of 2.0). Now nothing will add to my shopping cart and my site is effectively DOWN! I tried copying the old classes back, but that didn't fix the problem. As you can probably guess, I am not a happy camper. Any help getting this fixed would be appreciated. Just so you'll know:

1. Everything was working fine under the trial version.
2. All I did was copy over the registered version classes to my classes directory (binary copy).
3. The applets all display correctly - just nothing gets added to the cart.
4. The codebase explicitly is set to the full address of the classes directory.
5. I am pre-suicidal.

My site is at Please help.

I took a look at your site and noticed a couple things that could be causing your problem:

1) For one, the CODEBASE should be specified as part of the first line of the applet, such as:

applet code="uShopInputVertical.class" codebase="../classes/" width="160" height="100"

NOT as a parameter like this:

param name="codebase" value="../classes/"

(Even though some browsers will accept the codebase specified via as a PARAM, but not all, so be sure to specify it on the applet's first line.)

2) Secondly, I noticed that the codebase of your applets are not all the same. That is, some applets have the codebase set to:

while others have the codebase set to:

In order for the uShop applets to function properly in various browsers, it is important that all applets have EXACTLY the same codebase.
