modifications to order_template.html
Author Paul Huard on 02-21-2001 at 15:11 (EST)
I have modified order_template.html to make it bilingual and to use a SELECT element type for "billing_state". The canadian customer would choose a province and the adequate tax rate will be applied based on the tax table (States) setting. I have renamed the original order_template.html with the name order_template2.html

My order form settings is as follows :

Order form Template 1 : order_template.html (modified) = First page of order process

Order form Template 2 : order_template2.html
(not modified) = Review order

Order form Template 3 : order_template2.html
(not modified) = Final receipt page

Everything seems to be OK except when I proceed to an "Order Reader" operation. Where I should read the province (Canada) or the states (US), I read the HTML source code inside the SELECT element :

name="billing_state" size="1"> Ext. / Outside Canada, USA QC - Quebec ON - Ontario BC - British Columbia AB .....

The order reader fonctions properly before I modified order_template.html

Is there anything I may have overlooked ? Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe I have found the answer to my problem.
The original order_template.html should not be renamed. It must be used by the system to generate the order. I have renamed the modified order_template.html and it seems to be OK now.

Sorry !

Hmmm... there may be something on the modified "order_template.html" page that is thowing off the search-n-replaces that are performed by the Order Reader page... so if you want, send your modified "order_template.html" file to me at and I will take a look at it.

In any case, however, you should be able to get things working by specifying the "Order Reader Template" setting to be "order_template2.html". That is, under "GENERAL SETTINGS - MISCELLANEOUS", set:

Order Reader Template : order_template2.html

And that should get it working for now.

Yes. I had overlooked this possibility !
The order reader template was still set to order_template.html instead of order_template2.html
