Trouble setting permissions with WS-FTP
Author Moderator on 09-27-1999 at 19:04 (EST)
Could you please tell me why when I set my directories permission to read and
execute WS_ftp says cmod 555 instead of 755? And write and execute is 333
instead of 733? Is there another way to set permissions, other than right
clicking on your directory? Or can I use something other than WS_ftp, to
change permissions?

just one more not in regard to the permissions....

The permissions of the script should be: 755

The permissions of the orders directory should be: 733

When using WS_ftp, you can't always trust the boxes that come up checked. Just assume they are wrong and set the permissions:

For the script, check all of the READ boxes, only the first WRITE box, and all of the EXECUTE boxes and then hit "OK".

For the orders directory, check only the first READ box, all of the WRITE boxes, and all of the EXECUTE boxes and then hit "OK".

You can then get an accurate reading of what the current permissions are by selecting the "DirInfo" button on the right side of WS_ftp.

You should see the script set to something like this:

And the directory set to something like this:
