Shipping Charges

1. Is there any way to create a shipping charge calculation table that includes the zip code and weight.
2. Can the Customer Order Notification be amended to only include acknowlegement that their order is being processed. We have to manually include shipping charges based on the zip code and weight of the order and that can only be done the day after the Order Notification goes out.

Hello Dwain,

I'm not sure. I'll have to check with the lead engineer and get with you on that.

In regard to a way to create a shipping calculation/table that is based on both zip code and weight, no, there's not really way to configure that, but here are a few options:

OPTION 1) If you are familiar with Perl at all, we could provide some instructions on how to modify the "review_order" subroutine of the "" file. Just send us a support request and an idea of the calculation that you want, and we should be able to point out where in the script to insert the formula and how to access the necessary variables (zip code, total weight, etc.)

OPTION 2) Instead of zip code could it be based on region? Such as "Eastern", "Central", "Mountain", "Pacific" and "Other". If so, then you could just use the 5 shipping options that uStorekeeper has available... setting the "Shipping Method Name" of each one as "Eastern", "Central", "Mountain", "Pacific" and "Other", respectively. The actual "Calculation" type of each method could be based on a "Weight" formula for each region.

OPTION 3) Or if you just want to indicate to the customer that shipping charges will be added when the order is sent, then you could just configure one shipping option as:

Shipping Method Name: Shipping Charges Will Be Added Later
Calculation Type: Charge A Flat Fee
Shipping Rate(s): $0.00

And you could also set the "Shipping Instructions" field to:

Shipping Instructions: Shipping charges will be calculated and added to your order total when you're order is shipped.

And possible set the "Thank You Message" field to:

Thank You Message: *Note that shipping charges will be added to your total when your order is shipped.

Do these options give you any ideas?

Did you get and answer to Question #2 that I posted on November 14? If we could eliminate the totalling of the invoice and leave the amount at the subtotal level, we can manually write in the shipping and handling. Our problem is that the customer thinks the total includes shipping charges. We have to weigh and measure the order to add shipping. Please help. Thanks, Dwain
