Applet work but fail next time

The cart & orderbasiccgi work fine first time, but if a customer jumps back to buy something they forgot, then comes back to the order form - that's it, the applets show completely blank and the only way around is to close the browser and restart.
I'm using Ushop 2.0 and IE5 on a Win98 Pentium II

Everything else works just fine, my current workaround is to prevent the customer from jumping back, but that isn't good protocol!!!

Carefully check your codebase parameter. All the references to the location of your classes need to be exactly the same, including the ones for the order applet. Any extra space, punctuation, or difference in the way the url is referenced will cause inconsistencies with browser behavior like what you've reported. How are yours located and referenced? If you don't find your problem, please send an url so I can look at it.

I have the same problem ( on IE only - doesn't happen on netscape) But if you order something , go to the order page, then decide to go back and order something else, the order page "greys" out and wont come back? Then when you go back again, the order applets still work, but the small shopping cart on each page stays grey? Any other things you can suggest I check? Again, this only happens with IE, not Netscape for some reason. Thanks

If you are using IE5 and are having problems with the applets on the secure order page re-loading after going back-and-forth from the public server and the secure server pages, then there two things to do based on how you access your secure server. That is, do you access your secure server via your own secure certificate? Or do you access your server by using your web hosting providers secure certificate? See options below:

OPTION 1: If you access your secure server via your own secure certificate, then this means that you can access your site by just putting a "https" in front of the URL....just like you can our our site:

or Secure via

Apparently IE handles caching of applets of such similar URLs weird. To correct the problem, just be sure to use the PUBLIC URL (beginning with http) as your codebase setting on the applets on your secure order page. See the "January 19th" note on the following URL for more information about this:

OPTION 2: If instead of having your own secure certificate, you use your web hosting provider's secure certificate to access your site - such as:

Your Public URL

Your Secure URL (using your provider's certificate)

- then you can just use the SECURE URL as the codebase of the applets on your secure order page.

And that should correct the back-n-forth problem with IE and the secure order page.
