Ok... now that I don't have any hair left...

Here's what I'm trying to do. Quick thanks to Bill and Brian Levine for all the support thus far.

At my main site I'd like to have customers be able to browse through some select items that I have on special utilizing the uShopBrowse1.class method in uShop3.

To tell you of my dilemma, here goes: I've downloaded and ran from the browser the applet successfully. I've created & uploaded a test txt file for use with the applet.

The directory structure has the text data file and the classes in the same directory. I'm referencing the image directory as ../images/gif/ which is absolutely correct.

I've tried changing the PARAM "target" to blank, _blank, _new, new, self, _self, FRAME1 and FRAME2. I even used the full URL to a page I wanted it to use... and it STILL wouldn't work!? I then created a test frames page, but that's NOT how I want to do it. I couldn't get the applet to display the products using the display_product.html page. I get a javascript error of course in the split frame page.

However, on the same note, I KNOW that the browse applet is seeing the datafile without problems because it recognizes that 2 items are in the file. Only, clicking next does nothing! So why is this happening? The browse applet shows the products as "0 (2)" and displays the "Next" button, but when clicking next.... what is it supposed to go to? Obviously using the frames page didn't work either. I used the display_product.html page that came with uShop3 to no avail. Please help on this one... I'm lost as to why it isn't actually working and I'd like the applet to display on the SAME page with details just below the browse applet.

Thanks again... Matt

I took a look at your site and noticed that the problem is with your "example.txt" data file. That is, it looks like you only have 14 fields per product in your data file ... instead of the 15 required fields described in Section 7.3.1 of the uShop User's Guide:

(It looks like you are missing the "weight" field in your data file.)

I need to be able to load the product description to show in the cart. If you visit add one of the items to the cart, the popup works fine. Then go visit the cart to see your item in it! No description. I need to have the description added of course, so people know what they bought. How can I customize the ushopinput3 applet which is used ONLY for this, so that it will show the description in the cart?

Thanks, Matt

As described in section 7.3.1 of the uShop User's Guide:

...the data files for the "Search" and "Browse" applets have two description parameters. The "Full Description" is what will be displayed on the HTML page... while the "Brief Description" is what will actually get inserted as the input applet's "description" parameter and thus will actually be what is displayed in the shopping cart.

So to resolve the problem, you need to specify a value for the "Brief Description" fields in your data file.
