Illegal Referrer Page
Author ralf schwab on 08-25-2000 at 03:56 (EST)

i use uShop 2.0 and now want to upgrade.
So i check the trial-version.
My question now:
In the script, i filled Question
# 4. What is the secure URL of this script?
$secure_script_url = "";
I think thats the reason, why i recieve
at the order-process the Message
I know, i do not use a httpS - Site, because
i can store at our SSL - Provider only HTML-Files,
no scripts.
So what to do ?

With best regards

Schwab Ralf

Since you have Question #4 configured to be your public (http) URL and you currently have your script located at that public (http) URL, then your setting for Question #4 is probably Ok.

Are you getting the "Illegal Referrer Page" error immediately when you begin the order process? (I.e., right after the first "Review You Shopping Cart" page?) If so, then the problem may just be one of two things:

1. Have you actually transferred your new store pages to your server yet? You will get that "Illegal Referral Page" error if you are still testing the pages from your local desktop computer instead of directly testing the pages from your server.

2. Do you happen to be using a Mac computer? If so, then we recently discovered that some Macs may fail that initial referral page check.

In either case, you can correct the problem by logging in to the uShop Control Panel and then on the "General Settings - Miscellaneous" form, change the "Referral Page Validation" setting to "NO". This will get you by the first referral page validation check - and all the other referral page validation checks should be Ok.

On a side note, it is highly recommended that when you get your store setup and are ready to start accepting orders, you should get a secure server on which you can install the script and ensure that transactions are secure.

Hello Bill Weiner,

verry good service at uburst - and a verry
quick response - thank you !
I test the new Ushop on the internet-server,
not at a local pc.
I do not use a Mac - i use a Windows-Pc.
ON the General Settings - Miscellaneous ,
the Referral Page Validation is set on NO.
the error occours, if i press the Button
CONTINUE on the display_cart.html site:

Please take a moment to review the contents of your shopping cart. Press BACK to make changes or press CONTINUE to continue with the order process.

Sorry, but i only get the error message...

On a side - i have a secure SSL site. I have
a link in my actual ushop 2.0, where the
customer can put in his credit-card-data on
this SSL-Site.

With best regards

For the other user who was running into the "Referral Page Validation" error, we just figured out it was because he had the "scriptpath" of his "uShopOrderButton" applet pointing to the URL of the script on OUR server! So that is why he was getting that error. It was his Mac afterall!

So perhaps that is the same problem you are running into? That is, make sure that the "scriptpath" parameter of your "uShopOrderButton" applet is pointing to the URL of the script on YOUR server (

Otherwise, give me the URL of your store pages and I'll take a look at them.

I am getting this error after I fill in the address info. I tried usecure and it works very good! When I changed the info on question 4 in the script, I started getting this error. I have "no" selected for validation check in the misc. set up. The address is

I took a look at your site and I think I see the problem. On your "uShopOrderButton" applet, instead of using the PUBLIC url of the script for the "script_url" parameter, try using the SECURE URL of the script. That is, change the "script_url" parameter of your "uShopOrderButton" applet to:

And that should do it.
