Is there any applet available or modification I can make to an applet to have the product ID (which happens to be the product number) change -- have a suffix added -- based on selecting an option such as color..

i.e a *black* walrus might be product ID HP234-01 and a *white* walrus would be product ID HP234-02

Also.. note that the suffixes have dashes, or "minuses".. is this possible or will it cause a price mod problem?

The only applets at this time that allow the product ID to change based on options selected are the uShopInput17, uShopInput18, and uShopInput19 applets... which basically allow you to list different products (with different descriptions) in a drop-down menu.

Or as another option, you may want to look into JavaScript Input Examples #3, #4, or #5. You may be able customize the logic of the "add" function call such that the product ID is first appended with the selected option's suffix.

For example:

var productID = "HP234-" + document.HP234.color.options[document.HP234.color.selectedIndex].value;

Of course this logic can also be worked into a custom Java Applet if you are familar with Java. (See the uShop Programmer's Guide for tips there).

And in regard to using a minus "-" sign in the product ID, no, that will not cause any price modification problems.
