"Price showing a negative number?"

Posted by Dawn [nelsond@netservgroup.com] on at 01:33 PM
When I add the price of the item and it goes to the shopping cart as a negative number.

For Example...

The price is $20.00
When you checkout the price reads $-4380.99

Did I add a value wrong?

I've not seen that type of problem before...
Wasn't even aware that uShop had the ability to compute negative totals. Go ahead and post a URL to where this is occuring and I'll see if I can't diagnose this strange problem.

A couple of the prices are working right. This doesn't make any sense to me.....

Going to the first URL you provided me with..

I can see in your HTML that the codebase for the uShopInput4 applet you are using is incorrect. Currently, it reads-
What it *should* read is most probably

Additionally, make double sure you uploaded the class files in BINARY mode as opposed to ASCII.
Hope this helps.

You can find a full explanation of the codebase parameter and how it works along with some helpful tips at-

"Codebase is correct"

Dawn, the codebase is correct, but to check on whether those class files were uploaded in binary (might not have been, since they were uploaded with FP), I will send you the directory of all the class files. Then, go in via ftp, delete the classes directory and upload the new one (making sure its going up in binary mode). Call me tomorrow morning (I am free between 10-1) and we'll see if that works.

I took out the first set of ../ and now it doesn't read at all...just a gray box.

The ones that do work have the ../../classes codebase.

"Got it to work!!"

I got the prices to work right! I figured I'd post what the problem was here so that if someone else has the same problem then they'll know what to look for.

I talked to a someone from Uburst Tech Support on the phone and we were troubleshooting the code. Since some of the prices worked, I was told to try to copy and paste the code into an item that didn't work. I changed all of the parameters accordingly and tested. It worked! The other codes must have been corrupted in some way. We aren't sure though.
So I went through and replaced all the code in the others. I went back and tested them again and all but three worked. I couldn't understand why they weren't working if I used the same code. I checked to make sure the parameters were the correct way and they were. I went back and took out the Option1 parameter and tested it. The price came out right. The Values in the Option1 parameter have sizes in them, such as Men's Small Sizes 7-9. I took out the Sizes, tested it and it worked. Then I put the 7-9 back in and a negative number came up. So I realized it had to be those numbers. I replaced the "-" with "to" and then tested it again. It worked! The problem was the dash character.

I replaced the other two and now they all work!

KNEW it was in the code somewhere...
Glad you got it working!
I'll go ahead and add this to our knowledge base.
