  1. What is uCatalogTM? uCatalogTM is an E-commerce Developer's Kit designed specifically for putting Interactive Catalogs on CD-ROM.

  2. What do you mean by "Interactive Catalogs on CD-ROM"? By this we mean that customers will be able to browse your catalog on CD-ROM and actually add items to a virtual shopping cart. When finished browsing, the customer can print out the order (for phone, fax, or mail orders) or, if the customer has a connection to the internet, can place their order online.

  3. What is involved with creating a CD-ROM Catalog with uCatalogTM? Creating an interactive CD-ROM Catalog with uCatalogTM involves nothing more than creating standard HTML pages that describe your products and then adding any of the uCatalogTM Applets/JavaScripts to the HTML pages as the means by which customers can select your products and add them to the virtual shopping cart.

  4. How do you add the uCatalogTM Java Applets and JavaScripts to your HTML pages? The uCatalogTM Java Applets and JavaScripts can be added to your HTML pages by using the standard HTML <APPLET> tag and configuring a few easy-to-use parameters that specify the product's name, id, options, etc. As an example, see the figure below:

Figure 1: Example Applet and HTML

Check out the uCatalogTM Online Applet Reference for a complete listing of the Java Applets and JavaScripts that are available with uCatalogTM.

  6. Can I make my own Java Applets and JavaScripts to interface with uCatalogTM? Yes! 7. In addition to the uCatalogTM Input Applets used to add items to the customer's virtual shopping cart, what other e-commerce features does uCatalogTM offer? In addition to the ability to handle a large variety of product options and prices, uCatalogTM E-commerce features include the ability to handle various tax rates and shipping calculations, built-in credit card validations, almost complete flexibilty when designing your order forms, a flat-file database option that can perform searches and dynamically generate product pages, and much, much more!
