User's Editing/Adding Listings - Password?
Author Karen A. Fildes on 03-21-2002 at 20:18 (EST)
I just tried to test the link for a user to add a listing:
http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/udirectory.pl?command=add (with my domain of course).

The first thing I noticed was that the user is prompted for a password to add a listing.

How will they have a password if they are adding their first listing? I don't see anywhere they can register or otherwise obtain a password and I certainly don't want them to have my admin password. I have set the parameter in the main file to allow users to add and edit their own listings, but I don't see anything regarding password assignment.

Thanks.

Karen

Providing you have the "$visitor_editing" setting configured to "YES":

$visitor_editing = "YES";

That link should not be prompting for the password.

It sounds to me like you may have a misspelling in the "?command=add" part of that URL... and thus the visitor is going to the main uDirectory Control Panel login instead of the "Add Listing" form. So double-check that you have the complete "?command=add" suffix added to your URL.... no misspellings... don't for the the first "?".... etc.

And if that still does not resolve the problem, give me the URL and I will take a look at it.
