Hi,

I can't get it to update the pull down menu of current html pages when I add new categories. I'm using Business Edition ver 1.2

If you're not seeing any error messages when adding your new categories, then it is probably just a refresh problem. (Some browsers don't refresh drop-down lists when you just press "Refresh"). Try exiting/restarting your browser and see if that resolves the problem.

Hi Bill,

I looking at the html code on the server after a category has been added and I have hit the refresh button. You see it on the category page that is added but not on any other pages in the Directory. Page permissions are 644 Directory is 777 I tryed changing page permission to 777 but every time you add a category it rewrites them to 644.

Your server must be defaulting to 644 each time it creates a file. I would suggest downloading the latest version of uDirectory Business Edition - Version 1.3... because in that version we did add chmods throughout the script to make sure the files have read/write permissions.

I upgraded to the new version. Changed the permissions to 777. It sticks with 777 but still is not writing to pages that are in the directory before the new category was added?

A few questions:

1) Can you tell if the "categories.txt" file (which is located in you listings directory) is getting updated each time you try to add a new category?

2) Also, are there any ".tmp" files being created in your "listings" directory?

3) And just to confirm, you're NOT getting any error messages when adding a new category?

Yes It writes to the .txt file and to the new category html file created. But not to the existing html file. I do not have any .tmp files in this directory. I am not getting any error messages.

Hmmm... That is strange. As one last test to see what is going on, try adding these three test categories (in this order):

Category Name: B
File Name: B.html

Category Name: A
File Name: A.html

Category Name: C
File Name: C.html

1) Did you get any error messages?

2) Did the three categories get added alphabetically to your "categories.txt" file?

3) Do all of the categories show up in the selection menus on the new category pages?

And finally, try deleting one of the new categories.

4) Was the category deleted ok?

Hopefully this test will reveal the problem (because it will exercise all file functions: reading, writing, appending, and deleting).

But if it doesn't reveal the problem, send your URL and possibly your uDirectory password to me at support@uburst.com. I will take a look at it.
