Edit category name?
Author Lou on 07-31-2003 at 10:52 (EST)
Hello all,

Am I missing something? When I use uStorekeeper configuration to change a category, I can't edit the category name. It shows at the top of the page, but is not in a dialog box... Appreciate any tips about this.

Thanks, Lou

The way uStorekeeper was designed, all of the products that are put into a category are stored in a text file which is named according to the category name. If the category name changes, that product text file would also need to be renamed, but this is not currently a feature of uStorekeeper. This is why the Edit Category form intentionally does not allow you to change a category name.

You could work around this, if you absolutely must change the category name and you don't want to create a new category and re-add the products to that. You would have to (1) rename the text file that contains the products associated with the category such that the new file name matches your modified category name, and all spaces in the category name/file name must be replaced with the "_" character, (2) you would have to open up and modify the ustorekeeper-categories.txt file to rename the category in there as well, and (3) you would have to regenerate all of the html pages for the store.
