Combine items of diff. qty. to get Quanity Pricing

A problem I have encountered is applying quanity discounts. Example: "boxes" are purchased by the piece and when you order the amount that are in a case, you will get case price. When you reach one case, three cases or ten cases, you are going to receive that quanity price.

All of the box styles and sizes can be combined to get the quanity pricing.

The problem I am having is combining boxes that come in different quanities per case...one style will have 100 boxes per case, another will have 50 boxes per case. If I am combining styles that have the same qty. per case, there is no problem. If I am combining styles that have different qty. per case, this is where I run into a problem.

If I order one case of "box A" that has 100 boxes per case, and order three cases of "box b" that has 50 boxes per case, that gives me a total of 250 boxes.

With this order, I should get the 3 case price but the equation is calling for 300 boxes to get the three case price.

Can you provide custom programming with the uStorekeeper to achieve the quanity pricing I'm looking for?

If this doesn't make any sense, I have a demo site up at: http://www.iowaretailpkg.com

Go to the boxes (top section) to see what I'm trying to explain.

Thanks,
Scott

After reading your description and looking at your pricing tables at:

http://www.fsldesign.com/iowaretailpkg.com/boxes/boxes1.html

I think I understand what your looking for....and may have a solution that does not require any custom mods.

That is, instead of setting the quantity@price calculations to be based on the actual quantity inside each carton, could you just based the quantity on the number of cartons itself?

For example, take these two boxes from your table:

Stock #501VW (100 per carton) and Stock #518VW (50 per carton)

Perhaps you can use these settings:

Product ID: BOX501VW
Product Name: Carton of Gift Boxes
Description: White and gold gift boxes. Size: 10 x 7 x 1.25. 100 boxes per carton.
Price: 1@$27.05,3@$22.95,10@$20.55

Product ID: BOX518VW
Product Name: Carton of Gift Boxes
Description: White and gold gift boxes. Size: 17 x 11 x 2.5. 50 boxes per carton.
Price: 1@$63.40,3@$54.70,10@$45.00

... the key being that the customer will just enter the NUMBER OF CARTONS that he/she wants. So instead of entering the quantity as 100 of 501VW and 100 of 518VW... the customer would enter 1 carton of 501VW and 2 cartons of 518VW... thus giving them the 3 carton pricing for both.

Will that work?

I have already considered setting this up to purchase by the carton, but the customer needs to be able to purchase by the piece. Most customers may not actually order even carton quanities. One other reason for ordering by the piece is so they know right away how much each "piece" cost them.I know it's rediculous but it just makes it easier for customers.

I will encounter the same scenarios with many other sections of the catalog.

Any other suggestions? We're not opposed to a custom workaround for this.

Thanks.

We took a look at the code to determine what sort of changes would need to implement a custom workaround... and as it turns out, such a modification would entail quite a bit. And unfortunately, due to our current workload of customizations and working on other projects, we really can't take on any additional customizations at this time.

And as for other suggestions....well, the only other thing that I can think of is if you actually made separate categories in your store for customers who buy in bulk.... in which case, they can use the "quatity by case" option described above.

I am waiting a response in another post titled Javascript use in which we wish to do a similar arrangement only the quantity issue is pounds not pieces...however the scenario is the same. Once we find out if this is feasable we will be offering for sale at a very reasonable price a custom script capable of doing this very thing. If your customer can accept this as a separate stand-alone order form we can privide this now but our goal is to make it work with uStorekeeper as we feel this makes a great product even greater.
