3.0 weight calculations
Author ronharter on 09-25-2000 at 07:41 (EST)
Hi,
Is there anyway to eliminate some of the zeros in the weight calculations. I have quite a few items like resistors and IC's where the weight is set to .001. Most of our customers buy hundreds or thousands of these but sometimes they only want 5 or 10. On a recent order a customer ordered 5 and the weight showed up on the order form as 0.0050000004 and 10 of another item and it showed up as 0.010000001. This just takes up space on the order form and squeezes the price column.

I think 3 digits to the right of the decimal point would be fine. For me personally I wouldn't care if it rounded it up to just one digit to the right.

Thanks
Ron Harter

Is that occuring in the uShopCart applets and/or the first HTML shopping cart display?

In either case, we were just letting Java handling outputting that floating-point number... because we didn't know how far to round... Ie. will people be using large weight units and/or small weights? 3 or so digits, however, probably would be feasible for most applications.... so we'll try to add something to format those units and will try to get it into the next uShop Applet update (which should be coming out soon).

Bill,

I only use the small uShopCart applet so the first place I see it is on the html cart display. The worst part is that it shows up that way on the actual order and forces the price to add another line so the price shows up as:
$
113.75

Thanks
Ron
