Affiliates Tracking Problems with 9/8 update

I have applied the latest updates. I cannot get an affiliates log to be written nor updated. The orders do not indicate an affiliate reference.

I can add and edit an affiliate, but orders are not logged as affiliate referred. Help.

Can you tell if a cookie is being set when you link to the ushop script with the affiliate id?

Yes a cookie is being set. Now what?

The fact that the affiliate cookie is being set actually eliminates several possiblities. Now are you sure the "ushop-affiliates.log" file is not being written/updated?

If isn't being updated, then give me the URL of your store where I can take a look at it.

I'm sure that the log is not being updated. I manually created an affiliate log file when the .pl didn't. Then I ran the diagnostics and it was recognized, but it doesn't update.

My son's website is:

www.myjerkyshack.com

I took a look at the site, and what I believe is happening is that since the public and secure domains vary by:

http://www.myjerkyshack.com/

and

https://host2.dnsdomain.net/myjerkyshack/

.. the cookie set by going to the public URL of the script:

http://www.myjerkyshack.com/cgi-bin/ushop.pl

.. does not have permission to be read by the secure script at:

https://host2.dnsdomain.net/myjerkyshack/cgi-bin/ushop.pl

.. due to the difference in domains (myjerkyshack != host2.dnsdomain.net).

We are developing an additional module to handle such cases where the public and secure domains vary by more than "http" and "https".... and hope to have that available soon.

In the meantime, perhaps you can just try linking affiliates through the secure URL... such as:

https://host2.dnsdomain.net/myjerkyshack/cgi-bin/ushop.pl?id=uburst

... and see if that works for now.

On a side note (unrelated to the above problem), you might take a look at how your main frames are setup in your store at:

http://www.myjerkyshack.com/html/ordering.html

It seems that Netscape is not loading the frame on the right correctly. In IE it works fine though.

Yeah! Yes, I set the affiliate link to point to a url and it works great now.

Thanks for the tip on the netscape thing. I'll check it out now.
