using the secure server

your set up instructions speak of installing the files on the secure server. I am using mindspring and they tell me that there is no actual secure server, all files reside on my unsecure site and are called using the https://(secure key). how then should the files be set up. I tried as outlines in the user guide and called the page with the secure key(https:) only to have the system lock up or some applets will not load. (my site is at www.4heatac.com)

In order to make transactions secure, you must have the ushop_cgiscript.pl file installed on a secure server (unless you are using the Authorize.Net interface option...in which you use Authorize.Net's secure server).

Some web hosting companies allow you to use their secure certificate to access your site via https. However, I believe MindSpring does NOT allow you to use their secure certificate. So if your website is hosted on MindSpring, then you will probably need to purchase your own secure certificate.

Secure certificates cost between $150(Thawt) and $300 (Verisign) bucks. Upon getting the secure certificate setup, you with then be able to access your site (and the ushop_cgiscript installed on it) via https (as opposed to just http).

Contact MindSpring about getting a secure certificate and they'll set it up for you.

yes i have acertificates from Thawt and it is installed on my site and i can jump to the secure site using https://www.4heatac.com and the secure icon appears and all is fine that way, but when i call mindspring they insist that their is no actual secure server that i can load the class files to. They said ALL files remain on my site and I call then by the https//. So i tried this and the applets will not load properly

the ushop instructions say to install the class files on the secure server so since mindspring says that i can not what should be done??

I have found that you can have problems with the applets in a secure page if you try to use frames or if you fall to use https:// on the rest of your included files like graphics and the like.
