Internal Server Error when trying to run uShop.pl
Author Joe Boston on 01-07-2002 at 16:15 (EST)
I am trying to run ushop.pl for the first time and am getting the Internal Server Error message. I have reviewed prior messages and fixes but no luck. So here is my configuration.

Unix Box
Apache/1.3.12
uShop 3.4

cgitest works at http://silkweddingexpressions.com/cgi-bin/cgitest.pl
ushop.pl no work at http://silkweddingexpressions.com/cgi-bin/ushop.pl

I have added the path to perl in the ushop.pl, ushop-lib.pl and ushop-languages.pl

I have verified ascII was used for the upload

Permissions on all files are set to 755.

Thanks for your help
Joe

Hello Joe,

When one encounters an "Internal Server Error" message on attempting to access the uShop control panel, it means one of several things.

1)PERL. Your server either cannot run perl scripts, cannot run perl scripts with the .pl extention, or the path to perl is incorrect.

2)BINARY was used instead of ASCII to transfer all the .pl scripts to the server.

3)The permissions are incorrect. All of the scripts should have 755 permissions and the data directory should have 755 permissions as well. If 755 does not work, use 777.

4)The file is corrupt, corrupted during download, or has been tainted. (very, very rare but it does happen)

These are the most common problems found when an "Internal Server Error" message is encountered. My recommendation would be to start over with a fresh script downloaded. Set the path to perl on the ushop.pl script (to the same as your cgitest.pl) and upload the scripts in ASCII. Set permissions and then try to access it through your web browser again.

If you need further assistance, or more in depth help with this, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Joseph Pishgar
