Failed to create new database for editing
Author Larry on 04-16-2003 at 11:39 (EST)
When trying to add user, I get the message "Failed to create new database for editing" Permissions appear to be correct, the csv files are created in the cgi-bin folder. Any ideas?
Win NT 4 IIS 4 IE 6 browser.

This error occurs because uSignIn is trying to create the _usignin.cbk (BACKUP) file in the same directory where the script is running, and for some reason (permissions) it cannot. You said the .csv files are already created in that folder...so try this: if you rename those .csv files, can uSignin recreate __those__ files without a problem? All of the files are being written to the same directory, so I would expect that it either works in making them all or fails for them all.

Let us know what happens when you rename the .csv files - does it recreate them successfully? If not, then I would suspect you have the permissions on the folder (where the .csv files are kept) set incorrectly.

OK, renamed the files, and they were recreated successfully when I loaded the page the first time.
I still get the same error, though.

I changed the backup filename in the script to the full path to the backup file name and it works now.
