Modifying "Search by Busines Name" to Search by State
Author Marie on 07-18-2003 at 15:06 (EST)
Following up on the question Denny asked. We don't need the ability to search by business but rather by state, we DO want to keep the ability to search by Keyword. All we would need to change is the "Keyword Business" to State is this correct or can you advise?

Thanks - Marie

In regard to changing the search "By Business" in the Business Edition of uDirectory to seach "By State", here are some instructions on how to modify the script:

STEP 1: Make a backup of your current "udirectory_business.pl" script... just in case.

STEP 2: Open your "udirectory_business.pl" script with any text editor such as WordPad.

STEP 3: Do a search on the text "By Business" and replace the text with "By State".

NOTE: There will be TWO instances of "By Business" to change.

STEP 4: Do a search on the following line:

if ($keyword_search == 1)

About 12 lines down from there you will see the following line:

if ($line =~ " < business > ")

STEP 5: Change the line:

if ($line =~ " < business > ")

to

if ($line =~ " < state > ")

STEP 6: Save the script... as TEXT if your editor asks... and try it out!
