Shipping for different products
Author Worried_User on 06-14-2002 at 16:56 (EST)
I was wondering if there was the possibility to have shipping for different types of products.
For example, I have some items that have shipping included and wish to omit shipping on those items.

I was wondering if there was a way to parse thru the items in the cart and do my own checks on each item individually? I just need to find a way to get to the cart information!
Thanks

There are various ways of handling that, so here are a few suggestions:

OPTION 1) If you are using a "SHIPPING BY WEIGHT" calculation, you could simply give items that are shipped for free a weight of "0".

OPTION 2) Depending on how you want shipping calculated, you may be able to just use the "shipping_modifier" parameter of each item to add shipping for the items that have shipping fees and give a shipping modifier of "0" or possibly a negative value to adjust the final calculation for the items that have no shipping charges. (See the uShop applet reference for more information on the "shipping_modifier" parameter.)

OPTION 3) Or, if you really want to parse through the data that get's passed to the CGI script.... then you may want to look at the "while" loop in the "get_cart_html" subroutine of the ushop-lib.pl file. That should show you how each item could be accessed individually.
