tax included; not tax additional
Author Peer on 12-19-2000 at 07:47 (EST)
Hi!
The shop works fine, but there is still a problem: Here in Germany we have to show the price with tax included. We have here 16%, and I want to show the customers the tax at the end of the process. With the control-Panel I can set 16% at standard-tax; but so the tax will be adding up to the total. Is there any possibility to let the total as at is and only show the tax that is included?
Thanx!
Peer

We are going to be addressing the issue of allowing storeowners to easily specify that "tax has already been included in the price of the products".... but until then, the only way to do that would be to make a few modification to the "calculate_totals()" and "get_cart_html()" subroutines in the "ushop-lib.pl" script. I would post the changes that need to be made here... but it would be easier via email. So if you would like to try making a few modifications to the "ushop-lib.pl" files, send us a support request and we will assist.

NOTE: Also specify whether you want the "tax" line in the shopping cart moved (instead of being located right above the "totals" line) and/or if you want the "tax" line totally removed from the shopping cart.

                         3. Tax included in "Nachnahme" Payment
Author Carsten Kraemer on 02-04-2001 at 07:24 (EST)
Hello there,

I am using the german Version of uShop and used to have the same problem as posted by Mr. Peer. Since I asked Mr. Peer for the changes everything should work fine, but it doesn't. In the German "Nachnahme" Payment I still have the tax added to the totals. The other payment methods work fine.

Thanks
Carsten Kraemer

It sounds like you might not have received or implemented all of the necessary changes. I will email the instructions to you again a little later today.

I have a modified ushop-lib.pl for version 3.3 of ushop. But I dont know if I can use it with 3.4?

Between version 3.3 and version 3.4, we did make some changes to the ushop-lib.pl script... so you won't be able to use the old version 3.3 ushop-lib.pl script with the newer version 3.4 ushop.pl and ushop-langueages.pl scripts.

If you're just inquiring about the "tax inclusive" changes that we sent you for version 3.3, then actually, as of version 3.4, we:

"Added an option to easily specify whether tax has already been included in the prices of products or not."

So I believe what you are looking for is now a standard option in version 3.4 (and later).

To make "tax inclusive" in uShop 3.4 or later:

STEP 1: Make a backup of your ushop-lib.pl file... just in case.

STEP 2: Open your ushop-lib.pl file with any text editor such as WordPad.

STEP 3: Do a search on the following line:

$tax_inclusive = "NO"; # "YES" or "NO"

(It should be near the very top of the ushop-lib.pl file).

STEP 4: Change that line to:

$tax_inclusive = "YES"; # "YES" or "NO"

STEP 5: Save the file (as TEXT if your editor asks)... and try it out!

I believe that will get the results you are looking for.
