Cache Discount Fix
Author James on 05-04-2001 at 09:10 (EST)
A customer returned several days later to a site that was running a 10% flat discount for one day. Although the discount applet code was completely off the site it had remained in the customer's browser cache and was applied at purchase.

If you are planning to run discounts periodically I suggest renaming or removing the applicable discount applets when not needed to avoid this. That should fix it.

Thanks,
James

Hmmm... that's interesting. Even if the class files were stored in the customer's cache after a few days... I wouldn't think that it would also store the state of the discount applet. Are you sure the customer didn't have the HTML page with the discount applet on it bookmarked?

In any case, another option would be to just set the discount rate of the applet to 0% in order to make sure the discount no longer applies. Or use the uShopJSI.setDiscountRate() JavaScript to set the discount rate to 0%.
