I just downloaded Netscape 6 beta and the entire ordering system does not work with it. Might be Netscapes problem (it is a beta), but well worth everyone trying come up with a fix now.

Describe the problem you are seeing and give us your website and we'll take a look at it.

When applet to display the number of items in a shopping cart is used (the same applet used to display content of a cart). The old parameters setting it to diplay just the number items in a cart are used throughout the site. It doesn't seem to recognize changes in the parameters. Seems like some sort of cache problem with the new browser.

Good news is, the order applets load faster. Changing the name of the applet, and uploading a second copy of the applet may trick it into thinking it's a different applet and be a quick fix. However, I haven't tried this yet.

I took a look at your site with Netscape 4.7 (not with Netscape 6 yet) .... just to check out the parameters and they appear to be ok. Have you made any corrections to the parameters - which have since corrected the problem? I ask this because if the problem is such as you described - where the new instances of the same applet always default to the settings of the original applet - then you would have seen a problem with all applets - not the shopping cart applet. Furthermore, that would just be a major bug with NS6....and something they would have to correct before they release it.

In anycase, we'll check it out.

Like I said, works ok with other versions of Netscape. However, the Beta of Netscape 6 is all screwed up. I'd download it and check it out yourself. I'm going to try playing with file names to see if I can trick it into thinking they are different applets. If it works, I'll post the fix. From what we hear, Netscape 6 is pretty close to being released.

My understanding is that the JVM is not a standard component of the new Netscape - instead it is a plugin. Make sure you have the plug in installed and it should work, although I am very disappointed in the capabilities of it.
