Netscape 3 looses cart contents
Author Jeff on 01-04-2000 at 22:33 (EST)
I need to have the shopping cart on pages in multiple directories. I have CODEBASE="../" on all my applets. (Actually, NOF 4 automatically adds this when I insert your applets with the Java tool). All works great now with IE 5.0 and NS 4.7. However, I noticed today that NS 3.0 loses the contents of my shopping cart every time I switch from one directory to another, but not between pages of each directory.
Is there a quick fix for this to save myself some trial and error?

This is an issue with how netscape 3 caches the applets. Several things you can try to remedy your problem.

First: make sure all your codebase parameters are referenced EXACTLY the same. Any differences between any of the applets will cause havoc with the browser.

Second: If above does not help try using an absolute url for the codebase parameters: ie http://www.yourstore.com/classes

Finally: If all that does not help, can you put all the pages that have the cart in the same directory? In other words: a separate folder for each type of product as well as a separate folder to put all the cart pages into.

If this info does not help, please send me your url so I can look at the site.

Thanks
