do mixed applets need more time to load ?
Author Henry on 05-17-2000 at 01:16 (EST)
Hello,

on a page with 15 shop items I use the same applet 15 times . For 1 or 2 of the items a different applet would be more desirable.

How does the number of used applets influence the load time of the page if they are
a) the same and
b) if they are different ones.

Thanks,
Henry

The uShop Input Applets, in general, are pretty small..... That is, most are under 5Kbytes. Therefore the download time for different applets is pretty much negligable.

In fact, the delay often seen when visiting a web page with applets on them, is mostly due to the browser's Java Virtual Machine (JVM) running the init() method for each applet. This (running the init() method) is done for all applets the first time they are viewed...regarless of whether the applets are the same or different.

So in other words, go ahead and try using the different applets and you probably won't see much a difference.
