If you are using a payment processing gateway (i.e. Authorize.Net, LinkPoint) for credit card processing, you are not actually storing any credit card numbers on your server, and so you really don't need a secure server.

However, if you are manually running credit cards through a credit card machine and capturing those numbers on your server as part of the order process, then you need to provide a secure location for these numbers to prevent them from being stolen.
