HELP!! UshopOrderButton isn't working etc.
Author Marcel Emmen on 02-22-2001 at 18:31 (EST)
Hi there,

I have to questions!
First #1
If i load my page where the UshopOrderButton2.class is define then the button shows up in IE but not in Netscape 6.01 english?

This is what the java-console says about java in Netscape;
java.lang.NullPointerException
at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.followRedirect(Unknown Source)
at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.protocol.jdk12.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getHeaderField(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.protocol.jdk12.http.HttpURLConnection.checkCookieHeader(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.protocol.jdk12.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
at java.net.URL.openStream(Unknown Source)
at uShopLibrary.readFile(uShopLibrary)
at uShopOrderButton2.?(uShopOrderButton2)
at uShopOrderButton2.init(uShopOrderButton2)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

Is this a known problem? with netscape 6.01 or is there something else going on?

Question #2
When i press the UshopOrderbutton2.class within IE where i can see it? then it returns a 404 not found or not exist error!
This is strange because everything is ok when i manual go to the script at the secure-server.

I don't know what it's missing so what i'm i doing wrong here?

for you information you can find the ushoporderbutton2.class at
http://www.shoes.nl/emmen/html/afrekenen.html

This is a test adres for version 3.0

Please reply as quick as possible

Thank you

Marcel

I took a look at your site at:

http://www.shoes.nl/emmen/html/afrekenen.html

And saw that instead of using the recommended default codebase of:

CODEBASE="../classes/"

You are using the codebase:

CODEBASE="../"

This means you must specify the special CODEBASE parameter of your uShopOrderButton applet to be:

< param name="codebase" value="../" >

For more information about the CODEBASE, see:

http://www.uburst.com/uShop/codebase.html

Also, based on the fact that you are using a codebase of "../", then that means you should have the "template_cart.html" file located at:

http://www.shoes.nl/emmen/template_cart.html

And the "display_cart.html" file located at:

http://www.shoes.nl/emmen/display_cart.html

Neither of which are actually there..... So make sure you have put ALL of the necessary template files in your new classes directory (a.k.a. your http://www.shoes.nl/emmen/ directory).

Hi there,

Thanks voor your help. I have placed the display_cart.html and the template_cart.html in the right directory. Now if i press the ushoporderbutton2 there shows up a please wait message follow by a runtime error. If i look at the runtime error this error is comming from display_cart.html and the error reference to
var html = document.uShopJSI.getCartHTML();

The error says that (getting it in dutch but try to translate to english)

This methode isn't support on this object!

Also you say that the codebase isn't define for the ushoporderbutton2.class? but this is not right the codebase is also define for this applet as codebase="../" But this is still not explaining why the applet isn't show up when i try it with netscape 6.01

Marcel

p.s. i use Netobjectfusion 5.02 which automatic places the class files in the root directory of a site. These files can not been moved to a other directory like /classes as you mention. This can only be done if i manual place all the classfiles and param name through a external html file. I use the root directory also in ushop 2.x and this gives no problem?

As described in Section 3 at:

http://www.uburst.com/uShop/codebase.html

Since you are not using the default codebase, you MUST also define the codebase like this:

< param name="codebase" value="../" >

... NOT part of the < APPLET > line.

Must i do that for all applets or only for the orderbutton applet? I'm asking this because the input applet i use is working in netscape without param name option

No, that is a special case that only has to be done for the uShopOrderButton applet.

OOPS! I was to quick. I have found the error already. The codebase inside display_cart.html was pointing to the wrong directory. I have change this and the problem is now solved.

However the problem with netscape isn't solved yet. And also i have a new question!

When pressing the order applet a please wait message shows up and after that it shows a page with some information. But on this page i can only see the quantity and the price, the subtotal and subtotal in EUR must there not be a desciption of the product? to the right of the price? There is only a black color and nothing else? The display_cart.html i use is the one i have got from you i haven't change anything?

Please reply

thank you

Marcel

In regard to the problem that you are experiencing with Netscape, try that "codebase" suggestion discussed above and see if that resolves the problem for you.

As for the black column that you are describing in your HTML shopping cart, it sounds like it may be related to the a problem that was fixed back on 12/07/00 (http://www.uburst.com/uShop/updates.html) ... which was related to correcting a problem that occurred when trying to hide more than one column in the HTML shopping cart. So make sure you are using the latest version there.
