Debit Card PIN Number

With Check/Bank and Debit Cards so popular, what do you think about a PIN field to accept those types of transactions?

Really, this is just a question as I know NOTHING about the technology and verification process ness. to make this happen.

Does anyone else think this is needed?

I thought that debit cards could be used just as credit cards for electronic transactions.... since debit cards are usually associated with Master Card or Visa (like the "Visa Check Card").... and where no pin number is required. But I'm sure merchants/storeowners know better than me on whether they need the "pin" number to process debit cards or not.

In any case, uShop's "creditcard_template.html" file has an extra field called "cc_issue" so you could technically use that field to collect the pin number if that is necessary. (Although I don't think it is).

Refer to Section 9.2 in the uShop User's Guide:

http://www.uburst.com/uShop/reference/users_guide.html

... for more information on utilizing that extra field.

Debit cards can be used just the same as credit cards no pin number required . The only catch is you must have money in the account If you are processing cards in "real time" eg direct to bank ,the card will "bounce" if lack of funds, not sure how it works if cards are processed through a third party ,say a Pay Pal setup

None of the current Paypal solutions handle feedback from Paypal, so its gonna be up to the shopkeeper to check and make sure that a transaction was successful. Hopefully, the next version of uShop will handle this.

No one would ever want to (or should have to) use their PIN for an online transaction.
