Blank Answer Sheet with IE5
Author Scott Milk on 07-02-2001 at 07:00 (EST)
My tests are working fine in Netscape 4.7 and with some versions of IE5, but not all. The answer sheet comes up blank. I've seen it work fine with 5.0.0.2919.6307C0 but not work with versions earlier and later.

Any ideas?

Hello Scott,

It could be that the java virtual machine has not been installed on those versions of IE5.x and thats would make it appear blank. Do any other applets appear in those other versions of IE you are using?

Hello Joseph,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Students using IE5 that have problems with the answer sheet do have the "start test" button (which is actually the reset test applet) work fine, the test clock applet runs, and the question/answer applets appear and seem to work fine.

They get the "Please Wait..." message but then the screen goes blank and the page source is completely blank.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello again, Scott.

That sounds like the old "Please Wait.." error problem. It means that the codebase is probably off a bit. Double check the paths you have set, and use the following as a reference-

If that doesn't help, go ahead and send us a short e-mail at support@uburst.com and we'll look deeper into the problem.

Joseph,

Just to finish out the thread, before this goes to email with support, I am familiar with the codebase problem you are referring to and pretty sure that it's not it.

The biggest pointer to that is the fact that Netscape 4.7 from the same system brings up the answer sheet just fine.

Thanks again for your time.

Hrm. Odd.
Go ahead and send in a support request and I'll take a look at it.

Scott,

1) Are the students taking the test online, off of a network drive, or from a CD-ROM?

2) If it is online, can you give me the URL so I can take a look at it?

3) When the answer sheet comes up blank, are any error messages seen in the browser's Java Console?
