Hi! We have a number of reports now of "nothing happens" when users click on the BEGIN ORDER PROCESS button.. Have tried both uShopOrderButton & uShopOrderButton2

This complaint so far comes only from users on Windows XP Professional with MSIE version 6.0

Users report that the status bar say "applet started" but nothing happens.. page doesn't change

These users are our ongoing consultants who need to place orders weekly, so ANY help appreciated!

Well, after digging through the forum here, I've discovered that the information I needed was here all the time - my apologies!

I've read the threads about the missing JVM in later versions of MSIE, and have done the following:

- upgraded to v3.50
-advised those customers to DL the Sun JVM

But I *STILL* have some questions...

-Does the Microsoft JVM that's now in their Service Pack 1 work ok with uShop?

-Does v 3.50 now prompt users to go and download it? or do I need to add a link/instructions on the shopping cart for these users?

Thanks in advance!

Gary

#1. In regard to your first question:

Does the Microsoft JVM that's now in their Service Pack 1 work ok with uShop?

I'm not exactly sure which JVM that is, but I can say that that uShop 3.5 does not have any known problems with any of the JVM's on the Windows platform. This goes for IE browsers that have the Microsoft JVM built-in.... and for IE browsers that are using the Sun JVM plug-in.

(FYI: You can tell exactly what JVM you are using by opening your browser's Java Console... Or if using a JVM plug-in, by double-clicking on the little Java Icon that is displayed on the Windows Task Bar down by the clock.)

#2. In regard to your second question:

Does v 3.50 now prompt users to go and download it? or do I need to add a link/instructions on the shopping cart for these users?

I think it depends on how the browser is configured, but I believe there is some extra (standard/non-ushop) applet tags that can be used to tell the browser to download the JVM if the user doesn't have one. Let me get back to you on the HTML syntax.
