Unusual orders?
Author icnjill on 11-16-2000 at 17:14 (EST)
Hi everyone. I'm using the older version of ushop 2.0.. and, for some reason, it has started repeating orders. So.. if someone orders one item... which shows up in their shopping cart.. but when they check out.. they have two. Not a 2 in the quantity.. but two identical single orders. Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this? Please email me at jill@sonic.net

That duplication of orders usually seemed to occur in uShop 2.x when the customer bookmarked the thank you page, as described in this posting:

http://www.uburst.com/dcforum/ushop_cgi/99.html

But from your description.... it kind of sounds like the duplicate order is occurring immediately for some reason (as opposed to a later date when the customer revists a bookmarked thank you page). In that case, I would suggest making sure that you are using the latest version of the uShop 2.x CGI script (ushop_cgiscript.pl version 2.35). That version will check for the existance of an order file with the same name ... and thus will prevent duplicate orders ... at least while the order file is still in your "orders" directory. (Note that you should still delete the orders from your "orders" directory from time to time).

Otherwise, you may want to try the customer "Thank you" page as described at the aforementioned posting.
