ok squared away the order problem.
now my customers still don't receive a receipt.

Just to make sure I understand the situation:

1. You (as the storeowner) successfully receive the email notications?

2. You (as the storeowner) see that the order files are successfully being written to your server?

3. And so the only problem is that the customer (whatever email address is entered on the order form) is not receiving the email receipt?

If so, then as a test, try placing an order and use the storeowner's email address on the order form. Let me know whether the email receipt is then received (2 emails total). If so, then the problem may have to be in relation to how the mail server is setup. It may not be sending email outside of it's own domain. In any case, let me know the results of the above test and then we can determine where to go from there.
