Authorize Net Interface
Author m6157 on 07-10-2000 at 19:11 (EST)
I am working with a local bank and merchant account vendor to enable my website, using uShop, to take credit cards. I prefer to use them rather than Cardservice International. I am told that I must find out if Authorize Net works with either VISA-NET, MAPP (Global) or PAYMENTECH. If so, they say they can interface with them. How does this impact my using uShop, which I really like and hope to use?

Thanks for your help,

uShop's Authorize.Net interface was design to specifically meet the interface requirements of Authorize.Net's payment processing system. Once you have an Authorize.Net account, you can configure it to accept various payment types such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and even Electronic Checks. As for where VISA-NET, MAPP, or PAYMENTECH fall into the picture, I'm not sure. I am not familiar with them at all - but from the sounds of them, I would guess that they are online payment processing systems on the same level as Authorize.Net. That is, each offering the ability to process payments online....however, each with their own interface requirements that are probably different then the Authorize.Net interface requirements. This would then mean that a new interface would have to be developed to get uShop to interface with those payment processing systems. (Something we do not have plans to do at this time).

So what your bank was probably meaning was "Does uShop interface with VISA-NET, MAPP, or PAYMENTECH payment processing systems?" ... Which at this time the answer is no.

But again, that is just guessing. I'm not sure what VISA-NET, MAPP, or PAYMENTECH really are. All I can say for sure is that uShop interfaces with Authorize.Net. You may want to contact Authorize.Net for additional information on VISA-NET, MAPP, or PAYMENTECH.

At Authorize.Net you can also find a complete list of the banks (other than Card Service International) that support Authorize.Net merchant accounts.
