TAX line
Author marcel emmen on 04-06-2001 at 16:36 (EST)
Hi there,

All my product price are with including tax. This because i only sell to consumers and not to company's Therefor it's not important to show the TAX line within the checkout form's because the tax will show there always TAX (0.0%)

Is there a way to remove this line so that this is no longer show? I know that is has to be done in the cgi script, but i'm first asking before i delete to much.

So which lines do i have to remove from the script to discharge the TAX line

Actually, before we bother deleting lines from the CGI script... try this:

STEP 1: Open the ushop-lib.pl file with any text editor such as Word Pad.

STEP 2: Near the top of the script, you will see the following line:

$tax_inclusive = "NO";

STEP 3: Try changing that line to:

$tax_inclusive = "YES";

STEP 4: Save the file (as TEXT if your editor asks)... and try it out!

Note that the above changes will allow you to mark tax as already being included in the price of the products... and in the shopping cart, the "Tax" will be displayed with the assumption that tax was already added.

No, this is not what i want.

The tax is always inside the price of our products. Also if we sell to somebody outside the Europe. The tax in the product then gives us the abbility to pay the shipping for the customer because we don't have to pay the tax.

If the shoppingcart shows TAX ADDED inside product, customers will ask to deliver tax-free! Our way of working this is not possible and therefore this makes it confusing for the consumers

No we want to completly remove the tax line.
Offcourse we will save a copy of the ushop-lib.pl if somethink going wrong.

We just want to know which line me must remove.

Thanks for your help and great software.

Marcel
Because we also sell outside our own country.

The price is also inclusive tax. But because it's out of our own country we don't have to pay the tax

Ok, to remove the tax line from the shopping cart, here are some changes to make:

STEP 1: Make a backup of your current "ushop-lib.pl" script... just in case.

STEP 2: Open your "ushop-lib.pl" file with any text editor such as WordPad.

STEP 3: Do a search on the following line:

sub get_cart_html

(This will get you to the start of the subroutine that generates the shopping cart HTML)

STEP 4: Within that "get_cart_html" subroutine, you will see TWO lines (in two different areass) that begin with:

$cart_html .= "$cart_tax_label

STEP 5: Go ahead and delete (or comment out by using a # sign) the section of code around each of those lines ... starting 2 lines above that line (the line with the < TR in it)... and going 3 lines below that line (to the line with the < /TR > in it).... 6 lines total in each section.

STEP 6: You will also need to remove the tax line from the email receipt, so do another seach on the line:

sub get_cart_text

(This will get you to the start of the subroutine that generates the shopping cart text for email receipts)

STEP 7: Within that "get_cart_text" subroutine, you will see TWO lines starting with:

$cart_text .= "$cart_tax_label

STEP 8: Delete or comment out each of those two lines.

STEP 9: Save the file (as TEXT if your editor asks)... and try it out!
