Effecting Order Reader "cart" table
Author Gary Torello on 03-17-2001 at 09:51 (EST)
Hi!

I'm happy to say that uShop is working out for us very well... Here's what we'd lke to make happen though:

We've configured the order reader to use a seperate template so that we can print this page out and fax it to be filled/shipped; HOWEVER, we don't want the prices column and totals to show when we print it (but we DO need that info).. SOooo.. I thought that perhaps there's a way to effect the BGCOLOR of that one table column- using a dark color or image so that the data is there, but won't print out.

It appears however that the actual table with the products/qtys/prices is generated from the same bit of code as the review cart, which we DON'T want to change.. We'd be happy having pricing/totals only in the e-mail notification and not in the order READER, but of course we'd always want that info in the REVIEW Cart.

Is any of this possible? Is it making sense?

Thanks in advance!

You are correct, the same subroutine used to generate the HTML shopping cart table during the regular order process.... is the same subroutine used to generate the HTML shopping cart on the order reader. But here are some instructions on how to hide the prices/totals on all HTML shopping cart displays... and still show the prices/totals on the e-mail notifications:

STEP 1: On your uShopOrderButton applet, set the following parameters:

< PARAM NAME="cart_show_price" VALUE="NO" <
< PARAM NAME="cart_show_totals" VALUE="NO" <

(This will hide the prices/totals on the "Review Cart" and "Order Reader" pages).

STEP 2: Make a backup of your current "ushop-lib.p" file... just in case.

STEP 3: Open your "ushop-lib.pl" file with any text editor such as WordPad.

STEP 4: Do a search on the following line in order to locate the start of the subroutine that generates cart for the email notification:

sub get_cart_text

STEP 5: About 25 lines down in that subroutine, you will see the following line:

$cart_text = "n";

STEP 6: Immediately after the line shown in step 5, add the following lines:

$cart_show_price = "YES";
$cart_show_totals = "YES";

STEP 7: Save the file (as TEXT if your editor asks)... and try it all out!

Oops... STEP 1 should read:

< PARAM NAME="cart_show_price" VALUE="NO" >
< PARAM NAME="cart_show_totals" VALUE="NO" >
