Environmental Variables

It would be nice if the cart would print some variables such as REMOTE_HOST, REMOTE_ADDR, REMOTE_USER, and HTTP_USER_AGENT on the order form. The IP address could be used as an extra measure of security and the browser type could be helpful in narrowing down problems with certain browsers.

This could be a optional and set from the control panel.

I know you guys are probably busy counting ballots
(sorry, just had to get that in ), but maybe in a future release.

Ouch! That ballot remark hurt! :^)

Anyway, you can access those enviroment variables pretty much anywhere in the script (such as the "complete_order" subroutine) via code such as:

$extra = "BROWSER TYPE IS " . $ENV{'HTTP_USER_AGENT'} . "n";
$extra .= "REMOTE_HOST = " . $ENV{'REMOTE_HOST'} . "n";
$extra .= "REMOTE_ADDR = " . $ENV{'REMOTE_ADDR'} . "n";
$extra .= "REMOTE_USER = " . $ENV{'REMOTE_USER'} . "nn";

Unfortunately, to write/read that data to/from the order file... will take a couple changes in a couple different places. So we'll, just add it to our future feature wish list.

Thanks,
We have had one case of fraud where a person used a stolen credit card to place orders. It would have been helpful to have his IP address (of course that could be spoofed) to try and locate them.

I lived in FL for 8 years but on the west coast. I did spend a lot of my free time (or misspent it) in Daytona Beach.
