Changing domain name
Author Joe Boston on 06-16-2002 at 17:53 (EST)
I am changing my domain name. I have been able to change all of the settings except for $settings[20] in the diagnostics view. Which file/setting do I need to change?

Thanks
Joe

$settings[20] actually refers to the default URL by which affiliates will get redirected to. It initially gets set to the same URL configured as your $store_url in configuration question #3 at the top of the ushop.pl script. Unfortunately, the only way to change that URL after the initial setup of the general settings via the uShop Control Panel... would be to manually modify that line in the ushop-settings.txt file. Here's how:

STEP 1: From the uShop "data" directory on your server, transfer the "ushop-settings.txt" file to your local computer. When transferring the file BE SURE TO TRANSFER IT IN ASCII OR TEXT MODE - NOT BINARY TRANSFER MODE.

STEP 2: Open the "ushop-settings.txt" file with any text editor such as WordPad.

STEP 3: Do a search on that URL and replace it with the desired URL. (You should see it around line 21).

STEP 4: Save the "ushop-settings.txt" file .. as TEXT if your editor asks.

STEP 5: Transfer the "ushop-settings.txt" file back to the uShop "data" directory on your server.... Again being sure to transfer the file in ASCII or TEXT transfer mode - NOT BINARY TRANSFER MODE.

STEP 6: Try it out!
