Fancy a trade???

Bill, remember my "request" a while ago: When using uShopInput20, you can specify an image/html code, but you can't "target it"...

You replied that you'd think about it, but in any case, it meant writing html code for each "product page"...

Problem solved (on the write html bit)... I've written a "template" which includes a javascript to "write the pages on the fly": The page with the uShopInput20 passes parameters to the template html and thus you only need one "template" page.

To see it in action:
1. www.thechinashop.co.uk, then:
2. Departments, China, Royal Worcester, Candle Snuffers
3. Select any of the ranges
4. Select any of the product by pressing "VIEW"
Those product html pages don't physically exist, they're all created on the fly!!!

Heres the deal... Enhance uShopInput20 to include "target" and I'll provide the html & javascript code FOC for free "as is" publication to all uShop customers...

How about it?

That script works pretty slick... good job!

Does the deal still go through if we already included that "target" parameter in the 10/03/00 update?

(See the second bullet :^)

Seriously though, if you would like, we'll add a link/entry for you on our Developer's page at:

http://www.uburst.com/uShop/developers.html

Again, nice work!

Hi Bill

Yes, of course, where do you want me to send the sample html pages?

They are of course, provided "as is", i.e. if someone uses them & they screw up, it's not my fault...

On a further note, I'd never used Javascript until the weekend. I'm therefore sure there are ways to make the script slicker, but:
a. It works (or at least it seems to)
b. It has some //comments in it
c. It'll cope with a variable number of variables passed (if you see what I mean)

On a further further note, I've used virtually the same code to streamline the "searches" - there used to be one search html page for each XXXX.txt file, now the menu calls a "search template" and passes the relevant parameters.

Again, nice software & support from you guys. My friend is really pleaxsed with his site. The only issue, is that as we decided on a "visual / tactile" site the photographs are taking him some time & therefore we're slow in getting content up there.

My next part of the project is to get his stock system (written in TAS !!!) to create the range & display pages automatically...

You can send the sample html pages/scripts to support@uburst.com. I'll then just list them on the Developer's page ( http://www.uburst.com/uShop/developers.html ) .... possibly with an "as is" disclaimer.

Bill

I'll add a few more comments to the script and add a help.txt file. You should get the three files later this evening.
