|The applet is not being displayed, but rather I see an "load: class UshopInputStandard not found" error in my browser's status bar.|
I have made sure that all of the required class files are in the proper directory and all of them are referenced the same.

I've never seen that "CGI Error" associated with a Java class file before... but it sounds like your server is trying to execute that class file for some reason. I would suggest making sure that your class files only have READ permission... and NOT EXECUTE permission.
