utest.cgi and linux
Author tony on 02-21-2002 at 20:08 (EST)
ok it doesn't matter what i do i can not get it to work. i can get the cgitest.cgi to work. i get :
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request

in the log file i get: premature end of script headers.

Is there a unix version of the utest.cgi in tar gz format i can get. If you need the registration number i can get that to you.

Thanks

So you've tried all the instructions described at this page:

http://www.uburst.com/uTest/testscript.html

... and the basic test script still does not execute on your server?

In addition to the suggestions described there (relating to permissions, file extension, ASCII transfer mode, etc.), another thing you may be able to try is running a dos2unix utility on the file. Or maybe just try downloading it directly from this URL:

http://www.uburst.com/uTest/testscript.html

If that still does not work, then I would suggest contacting your web hosting provider (if that's not you, of course) and describe that you have a very basic test Perl script that you are trying to execute on your server. You're hosting provider should then be able to help.

I thought i mentioned it but i can get the cgitest.pl, well i had to change the extention to .cgi and download it directly from the site to get it to work, anyway it works fine. its the utest.pl script itself i can't get to work. i have tryed every thing on the link that you gave me and then some. The only thing i can figur is when it is unziped. because its an exe file linux doesn't like to open it. We have our own server. if i could just get my hands on a non exe ziped version i know i could get it to work. I'll keep pluging away at it.

Thanks

Tony

Oh, my mistake. So you CAN get the "cgitest.pl" script to work ... but NOT the "utest.pl" script. Ok.

As for the utest.pl script... Have you tried unzipping the utest.zip file on a windows machine... and then transferring it to your server? The file that get's transferred to your server is called "utest.pl" (not utest.exe) and will be located in the "utest/cgi/" directory that gets created when you unzip the utest.zip file.

Also, you mentioned that you had to download the "cgitest.pl" script from our website to get it to work? Did the "cgitest.pl" script that is located in the utest/cgi directory that gets created when unzipping the utest.zip file not work for you? If not, then we have to do the same thing with the utest.pl file. In which case, submit a support request at:

http://www.uburst.com/supportform.html

... and we'll send you the "utest.pl" file directly.
