"Script Failed with Red Hat Worm"
Posted by icnjill on Jul-20-01 at 01:50 PM (EST)
A client of mine had her storekeeper script go down two days ago. We're able to fill a cart.. but not place an order.

This was simultaneous to the Red Hat worm that went through in the last 48 hours. Her ISP was badly hit by the worm. So, we don't know how to fix this.. and get the script working again.

Please help. My guess is that the worm altered permissions on the server.. but, if that is the case, nothing should work. We CAN fill carts.. we just can't place orders. Please email me with any suggestions you have... to: jill@sonic.net. The URL involved is: http://www.uniquespool.com.

Thank you! - Jill O.

There is nothing specific about the lion worm that should keep your site from taking orders. If you're using a secure server, it may have affected that. You will need to work with your ISP to solve this type of problem. The specifics on the worm can be found at http://www.sans.org/y2k/lion.htm

Since you can't access your uStorekeeper Control Panel on your secure server, this indicates where the problem begins.

We recommend installing the uStorekeeper "test" script on your public server to verify that it runs there:

And then install it on your secure server and try accessing the main control panel. If you can not get it to run from the secure server, then the problem is in the configuration of your secure server. Contact your ISP for help getting your script to run from your secure server.
