"Emailing orders to store manager"
Posted by MZ on Apr-03-00 at 02:40 PM (EST)
I would like for uStorekeeper to email each new order that is placed on the store. I have input my email address into the 'General Settings' and configured the lib file for BLAT for the NT server that is hosting the site, gone through a test order and haven't received anything. Does ustorekeeper email orders to the 'primary' email address specified or is the only way to check an order via the 'Order Reader'??

Yes, whenever an order is placed with uStorekeeper, an email notification (containing no sensative payment information) is sent to both the storeowner (whatever email address you entered as the 'primary' email address) and the customer (whatever email address the customer entered on the order form).

As a test, press the "Diagnostics" button on the uStorekeeper control panel. At the bottom of the report that is generated, you will see an "Email Test" button. Press that button to send a test email to the 'primary' email address. Do you get the test email? If not, double-check your path to BLAT. If that is correct, then you may just have to try configuring the SOCKETS email method.

Bill,

I have always used PGP Encryption for my ecommerce. This is my first time using the ustorekeeper script - I want to continue using PGP Encryption. The store is up and running great - but, as you said, my email notification does not send any sensitive payment information; ie; credit card info (which is exactly what I need). is it possible to get the store to send the financial info via email?

Unfortunately, no....there is no way to configure uStorekeeper to include the payment information on the email notifications...at least not at this time.

Since PGP cannot be used because financial information cannot be displayed, what about a print to FLAT FILE instead of print to EMAIL? Perhaps the info can be stored on a flat file somewhere on my secure server?

That way I can avoid having to use authorize.net

When using the Authorize.Net payment processing option, all of the credit card information is collected on Authorize.Net's secure server.... and never gets sent to your server. So it's not possible to write the credit card information to a file on your server.

But I have no plans to use authorize.net.

The financial info goes to a file "filename.order" that sits in my DATA director located in my cgi-bin. So I can always go in there and download the page to my hard drive to get the financial information (because the Credit card # is posted on this .order page) -

All I am wondering is if it already posts to this page, is it possible to have it post to a flat file that can be viewed using the browser instead of having to download it to my harddrive.

Then yes, the payment information is written to the order file on the server..... and the recommended way to securely read that data, is to use uStorekeeper's Order Reader.

See this URL for an illustration of using the Order Reader:
