Dear uBurst,
(I appologise if this ones been done before...)

I appreciate the probable reasons you chose the pipe (|) symbol for your data field separator but has anyone successfully used something else?

This question is based on the fact that MS Excel doesn't offer "pipe deliminated" text file format.

Yours Sincerely,

I guess you're trying to import data from an Excel spreadsheet?

Perhaps you can just output the data into your text file using any delimiter that is available... and just open the text file with any text editor and do a search-and-replace on your delimiter with the pipe symbol. Not the easiest way, but....
