"ustorekeeper cart part 2"
Posted by michael on Feb-15-00 at 07:21 PM (EST)
I bought the ustorekeeper and it's upgraded to your current changes, but I don't want to use it as a site builder. (I have a site and I hate your other shopping cart that doesn't work with Netscape and IE 5.) I am trying to integrate just the shopping cart part of ustorekeeper onto my already made pages. When I try to buy a product it says "referring page did not meet security requirments". How can I make this work? I also cut out the "search" because I already have a better search that doesn't look like a huge grey box at the top of every page.

You asked me to be more clear with the problem, but I don't know how to be more clear than telling you exactly what the error message is saying to me when I try to buy a product.(see above) and "no" the 1st shopping cart you have doesn't work well with IE5 and Netscape and therefore you have made this second one out of something besides applets.

Michael,

Exuse me for not being more clear in my inquiry for more information:

You said: "I am trying to integrate just the shopping cart part of ustorekeeper onto my already made pages."

In what way are you trying to integrate just part of uStorekeeper into your existing website? uStorekeeper is a product in itself and not designed to be integrated into a website in pieces. To install uStorekeeper, please follow the installation instructions that come with the product.

Have you installed uShop? Are you having problems with Netscape and IE5? We have an installed base of over 1200 copies of uShop. Browser inconsistencies with java applets can usually be attributed to syntax inconsistencies, upload mode errors, etc, and can be resolved. If you are having difficulties with your installation, state your problem and we will help you to resolve it.

As I've said, I have an already built site (329 pages) and don't intend on rebuilding every page with storekeeper. I like the different, and less bothersome cgi run storekeeper shopping cart design, rather than the Ushop cart. I have read everything you have to offer, but everytime I put the secure and non-secure applets on a page in Ushop, the IE 5.0 shows grey boxes most the time. Sometimes not, other times it clogs the browser. I KNOW ALL of your "keep the classes the same" answers, but it is Microsoft that has admitted that it has a problem and offers a fix. Try to get all my customers to go to Microsoft.com and upgrade and then come back and shop. NOT! Anyway, I do like the way the cart pages load in shopkeeper, but I do not want to take a full week and redesign the site nor do I want your ugly grey search box at the top of my pages. The shopping cart can be used alone I am sure, but I am getting the error message, "Referring page did not meet security requirements".

As mentioned in my previous reply, uStorekeeper has special security features built into it to prevent any posts to the store other than from the defined URL. That is, these security features will prevent anyone from saving the HTML pages - modifying the prices - and then posting to the store. To find out more about why this feature is included in uStorekeeper, see:

http://www.computerworld.com/home/print.nsf/CWFlash/000202E636

So in your case, it sounds like you are trying to modify the script and use your own pages to post the items to it. uStorekeeper security features will not allow this.

In regard to the questions you have with your uShop pages, it sounds like you need someone to look at your HTML to see what you are doing. I would recommend submitting a support request with all relevant information.

uStorekeeper has been designed to provide the ultimate in security!
