"Only want order form on secure server"
Posted by Robert on Jul-17-00 at 03:29 PM (EST)
I am currently testing the demo version of the ustorekeeper shopping cart. My current server allows me to use a secure server that has a separate address. My web page begins with my own domain name (www.mystore.com) but i need to transfer to a remote secure server (www.web-guardian.com/mystore) in order to take secure orders. Can I keep my products pages under my own domain name and only transfer to the secure server when i need to take billing and shipping information? Or do I have to have all my product pages under the secure server?

The typical configuration is that the store pages will be accessed via your public (http) URL and the order pages will be accessed via your secure (https) URL. To do this, however, the public server and the secure server must be physically the same server.

This is because the shopping cart files that are stored on the public server while the customer browses the store - need to be read again when the customer is filling out the order forms on the secure server. By having the public server and the secure server be physically the same server (and which is typically the case) the directory containing the shopping cart files can be accessed by both the public and secure processes.
