"Shipping Complexities?"
Posted by Kelly Irvin on Jun-18-01 at 06:54 AM (EST)
Our organization is non-profit. We accept dues, donations, advertising fees, and back issue requests, all of which either have no shipping or the shipping is included in the price.

We also have a seperate purchasing area for books that requires shipping based on method and number of books. Example: US-Standard, $3.00 per shipment + $1.00 per book.

I cannot figure out how to set up shipping on the same ushop.cgi script so that our treasurer does not have to go to more than one URL to read orders. Can "classification" somehow be used? Counting free shipping for dues, etc., I have 7 different shipping methods. Please help.

Try setting the flat rate to 0.0% for the dues, donations, ad fees, etc, and adding an alternate shipping method for the books as detailed at
http://www.uburst.com/uShop/reference/users_guide.html#GENERALSETTINGS4

The "Quantity Formula" shipping calculation type allows you to setup the shipping charge to be based on the formula:

Shipping Charge = (TOTAL QUANTITY * X) + Y

So as an example, suppose you wanted to charge $3.00 on the first item and $1.00 on each item after that. You could then set shipping fields to:

CALCULATION TYPE: Quantity Formula
SHIPPING NAME: My Shipping Method
SHIPPING TABLE/VALUE: $1.00,$3.00

Where the VALUE indicates X=$1.00 and Y=$3.00.

Hope this helps.
