"Shipping Modifier - can negative numbers be used?"
Posted by Jill Henry on Mar-22-01 at 02:28 PM (EST)
I would like to use the shipping modifier to REDUCE the shipping charges on some light weight items. Is there a way to introduce a negative number, so that instead of adding the shipping modifier, the modifier is subtracted from the calculated shipping charge?

P.S. I know a weight table may work better than my current subtotal table, but I can't for the life of me understand how to set up the weight table so that the values come out. HA! Still learning about this wonderful program.

Thank you so much for all your assistance!

As of uShop 3.4, you can use negative numbers for the "shipping modifiers".... so if you are not using version 3.4, you may want to download the latest version.

Otherwise, if you just want to make a quick modification to your current scripts, check out my response to this posting:

Thank you for your information. I am using UShop 3.4. How do I enter the negative number in the shipping modifier. I tried entering -$1.50 and I tried entering ($1.50). Neither seemed to work. Thank you for your help.

-$1.50 should work... but to be safe, I would say to leave off the "$" entirely... and just specify the negative shipping modifier as -1.50.

Also, make sure that when you upgraded to uShop 3.4, that you replaced both the class files AND the CGI scripts.
