"Calif Tax Rate Unable to configure"
Posted by Gerry Campos on May-19-00 at 11:42 PM (EST)
Hello,

I have tried for the last hour to configure the tax rate for California. It is 7.75%. I have tried looking at a sample applet in the applet reference, and seeing how it was accomplished but couldn't get it to work. I tried Ca=0.0775 but comes out 7.7%, then tried "taxrate" "0.00%" but ended with no tax. Quite confused. Anyone from Calif help me out?

Thanks

Gerry Campos

If you want to charge everyone in California a constant tax rate of 7.75%, but want to charge everyone else 0.0% tax, then use these settings as the parameters of your order applet:

PARAM NAME="taxrate" VALUE="0.00%"
PARAM NAME="taxtable" VALUE="CA=7.75%"
PARAM NAME="taxmenu" VALUE="NONE"
PARAM NAME="taxnote" VALUE="NONE"

Bill,

Thanks for the help, sorry for the long delay. It looks to have worked, except for it only showing tax rate as 7.7% is that the norm?

Subtotal = $ 15.00
Tax( 7.7%) = $ 1.16

The above came from an actual test order, as you can see it only states 7.7% and not 7.75%.

Thanks,

Gerry Campos

It sounds like you are using an older version of uShop. That is, there used to be a rounding problem such that the tax rate was rounded to the tenths place...but as of uShop 2.0, the rounding of the tax rate was increased to the hundreths place. I just confirmed this by taking a look at both the latest trial version and the latest full version of uShop...and both do now show the full tax rate (7.75% in this case). So try downloading the latest version at:

http://www.uburst.com/uShop/reference/updates.html

Or the latest trial version at:
